Project Description
A celebration of symmetry and serenity, this modern outdoor retreat in Upper Saddle River, NJ, is a lesson in balance and refinement. Magic Landscaping designed the pool layout around the architectural centerline of the home’s striking chimney, using it as a grounding focal point. A Leisure fiberglass pool with bluestone coping anchors the space, flanked by a curved lounge patio and circular dining terrace. The entire poolscape is one elegant step down from the main patio, creating visual depth without disrupting the flow. The result is a clean, geometric space with timeless details and unmistakable harmony.

Project Challenges
Creating a sense of openness within a tight spatial envelope required careful elevation management. By keeping the pool one step below the existing patio and anchoring it to the home's chimney, Magic Landscaping achieved clarity and calm without compromise. The juxtaposition of modern materials with classic stonework tied the new design back to the home’s traditional character—an artistic act of balancing contrast.

Defined Levels, Seamless Flow: The pool sits one step below the existing patio, enhancing the sense of openness while preserving the site's natural flow.
Custom Circular Dining Niche: A perfectly scaled round patio, bordered in bluestone, was created to frame a matching round dining set, adding bespoke charm and functional elegance.
